Finally, the photos
And here at last are the "official" photos of our wedding. We're thrilled with how they turned out, and hope you enjoy them too! If you'd like prints, please email us.
Totally Married
Special thanks to Rox, who was first to send over her super photos of the wedding. To date this is the best photo we have from the day of the two of us... enjoy!
If you have any pictures of the event please send them over. Let us know if you'd be OK with them appearing on this site.
The big day approaches...
20 days to go
Hello dearest friends and family! We are really getting ramped up for Rocktober 2007 as you can tell form the flurry of emails and postings! In preparation for the big day and the surrounding events we thought you might like a map of Healdsburg. Looking forward to seeing you all very soon!
Eager Beavers and Sloppy Slackers
Less than 5 weeks to go and we have just one question for you. Which are you, an eager beaver or a sloppy slacker? If you haven't yet sent in your RSVP then you, our dearest friends and family, fall into the latter rather than the former. Consider this a friendly reminder for sloppy slackers; next comes public shaming and we know you don't want that!
Presence not Presents
We've had quite a few questions from our friends about wedding registries. What kind-hearted and considerate souls you all are offering to buy us things, but please don't. We're plenty lucky enough to know that we will be surrounded by great company on our wedding day; your presence and not your presents is what we care about the very most, especially since so many are traveling from afar and we know what an effort that is.
Please no gifts!
Last weekend we spent the weekend in Timber Cove on the northern California coast. We've posted some photos online for you to enjoy. Seven weeks to go!
Barndiva
Since we're now receiving visitors searching on Google for "Barndiva Wedding" we figured we should post some more stuff about what Barndiva is like. Firstly, the Barndiva web site doesn't do the place justice. However, their strapline "the prettiest dining gardens in town" pretty much nails it.
The place is indeed a barn, with unfussy and tranquil gardens out back. The bar serves fabulous wines and cocktails; the restaurant superb food. Upstairs is a loft where the owner---a friendly guy from Essex, no less---lives. A couple of menu samples: "Asian Braised Eggplant with Shiitakes & Roasted Garlic", "Baked Halibut with Blood Orange Salsa & Braised Fennel". Their food is almost entirely sustainably, organically and locally farmed.
We like it there. When we first came to San Francisco we had a rough first summer in town and come the fall we went to Healdsburg to get away from it all. We loved the town and the area, fell solidly for the Russian River Valley, had brunch at Barndiva, and have since been back many times. It was Matt's idea for us to have our wedding there and from his first suggestion we knew it was the place for us. We're happy they could fit us in.
Wedding guests: we're looking forward to seeing you there and hope you like it too. Anonymous Google searchers: if you're looking for somewhere to get married then Barndiva comes recommended!
